Amazing book!This book is required for my medic program and by far is the best learning tool that I own for understanding pharmacology. It breaks down scenarios by explaining what the indicated medicine does and how it acts on the body. Somehow it all just clicks after reading each chapter! Easy to understand and read. Now if it only came with flashcards that pop out like my ECG book. I would easily pay another $20!

This book is fantastic! It is very comprehensive. Thank you!

One of the better, if not best, text for pre-hospital providers. Would certainly include it as an adjunct to whatever publisher instructor may be using.One minor shortcoming is the medical math section which perhaps could be expanded somewhat to include "means and extremes " calculations and other alternative methods. Overall great text and I would strongly recommend that anyone having a problem with pharmacology obtain a copy of Guy's book.

Dr. Guy offers his vast insight and knowledge on pharmacology to EMS providers on iTunes and now in paperback. His podcast, which are similiar to chapters in the book, are also excellent and I HIGHLY recommend them to any prehospital providers. The information he gives on medications most frequently used, routes and doses is up to date and easy to understand. Medication errors are becoming a common occurance and under stressful situations, even the most seasoned medic can make a critical error. Dr. Guy provides us with the upper hand in patient safety and advanced medication education.

First of all, this book was written by someone who sold cars for a living and you get the "inside" scoop. So inside, that when I went to buy my first new car ever, as the saleman's banter was taken chapter and verse from the pages. I used every resource suggested and every response suggested by the author and, as a result, paid [substantially] less than the lowest price I was offered by groups like AutoFinders. Not a bad return for [such a small investment!]

In a sense I'm also writing this review for several friends of mine who have bought the book and found it extremely helpful as a prepration for shopping for a car. The information, tactics and strategies proved to be right on for both me and my friends. We all saved money with this book. As to a previous reviewer who said the "fax" ploy doesn't work. Well it sure did for me. I suspect he's a car salesman.

This book is great! Especially if you want to study and learn topics from scratch, get this book. It explains each topic in 6-8 pages and has example questions. After each topic, there is a test, around 15-20 questions. Each question has a detailed explanation at the end. Usually questions are harder than SAT and official practice tests. I'd recommend this if you want to study and learn the topics.Also Kaplan's book is good. I used that after finishing this book. That book is ideal to practice since it briefly summarizes the topics and gives practice tests of 20 questions.

With the exception of the the error I showed in the picture attached to this review, I really like this book. It isn't as wordy and overwhelming as Kaplan's, and it walks you through problems. I like how they don't provide info in large, chunky paragraphs that lose me at times; this book tends to be very straightforward.

I got this for a sibling and after going through the book their practic scores went up 20%. The one thing that would be helpful would be some more practice tests in the book

This book has lots of practice problems and useful explanations, but I find that the questions are a lot more advanced than the actual SAT questions and therefore not representative of the real test. For example, as I was taking the first practice test, there were at least 5 fairly challenging questions within the first 10 questions (these questions are typically easier and don’t involve advanced topics). Overall it’s helpful but perhaps overkill.

This edition provides great tools to prep anyone for the test!
