I have been in the shooting sports for 16 years, and particularly enjoy this series of manuals. Outstanding reference guide for shooters and ballistic enthusiasts alike. Has data on velocity, energy delivered, Taylor KO index, windage and elevation on numerous loadings for hundreds of calibers, with all this being preceded by a few pages on the science of ballistics and a few anecdotes. Good reads. Each cartridge has all dimensions labeled (i.e rim, case length, neck, etc.), and has an informative description of the cartridges history/relevance. I have purchased each of Rob Forker's manuals since the 3rd, but have one personal issue. Whilst he does cover a wide array of ammunition, some obscure, there is STILL no entry for 7.62X54R (Mosin Nagant), which I find strange. I feel it is a fairly common round, come on Bobby. Other than that, one of my go-to reference manuals. Well written and pairs well with Gun Digest.An honest and unpaid review, -shaolin
if you are looking for a book to make comparisons with visuals of pistol ammo, rifle ammo or shotgun, forget it, this is 99% a book of statistics. If thats what you want buy it
not what I envisioned.ONLY factory loads.look elsewhere if you want data to build reloads.
Does not have some calibers represented in the manual.Double check the manufacturers that are listed on the product description to make sure it has what you want.It was supposed to be an update, but did not have some of the calibers listed in previous editions.
Good information for research and reference on ammo. Text is great, providing info on hunting rounds; meaning of one-stop rounds (no such thing); large caliber versus high velocity (which is better). Great prep. for a day at the range.
