Full of my favorite dishes. My wife is a Jamaican-Brit and I'm enjoying her cooking. But sometimes, I want some Soul Food!
This took me back to times gone by, filled with the wonderful truly homemade cooking of my grandmother's era. This book was not only filled with excellent recipes but also full of history and memories. I felt I could smell and taste each of the recipes.
It would be impossible to single out one recipe in this book and say it's the best. They are all the best and they work well together. I must say, I never thought molasses would be a staple in my cupboard but it is. If you bought this book just for the neat meatloaf recipe, it would be worth it. These are tried and true recipes of the past, each one with its own unique story.
Sister White, I love useing this cook book and I'm not crazy about cooking. I tried the Gulf Coast Gumbo and the Perfect Steamed Rice the day I borrowed this book from the libary, girl I orderd the book the same day. WONDERFUL! Can't go wrong. And I love the stories and the pictures. This is a wonderful gift for any body that loves to cook. And even for someone who doesn't but loves to eat.
Old school home church recipes that you can appreciate. Great recipe book and I will definitely highlight this book all over. I am a fan
