Full of my favorite dishes. My wife is a Jamaican-Brit and I'm enjoying her cooking. But sometimes, I want some Soul Food!

This took me back to times gone by, filled with the wonderful truly homemade cooking of my grandmother's era. This book was not only filled with excellent recipes but also full of history and memories. I felt I could smell and taste each of the recipes.

It would be impossible to single out one recipe in this book and say it's the best. They are all the best and they work well together. I must say, I never thought molasses would be a staple in my cupboard but it is. If you bought this book just for the neat meatloaf recipe, it would be worth it. These are tried and true recipes of the past, each one with its own unique story.

Sister White, I love useing this cook book and I'm not crazy about cooking. I tried the Gulf Coast Gumbo and the Perfect Steamed Rice the day I borrowed this book from the libary, girl I orderd the book the same day. WONDERFUL! Can't go wrong. And I love the stories and the pictures. This is a wonderful gift for any body that loves to cook. And even for someone who doesn't but loves to eat.

This is a fun Nature Study book by the Thinking Tree.What I like about it: Finally a book from the Thinking Tree that does not encourage screen time!!! There is a brief mention of documentaries in the beginning but that's it!! YAY!!! We enjoy nature and lean towards the Charlotte Mason path so this will be a good addition to our books. There is also camera use in the book. I've wanted a good reason to buy my son a camera and now I have one. This is one book I will not have to modify.What I don't like about it: Nothing. For once we have a 100% fit that I don't have to modify to fit our families needs.Who this book may be for: Thinking Tree fans, people who want their kids to spend more time outside and develop a better fellowship with the natural world, and I would take a guess to say that Wild and Free people will like this book as well.Who this book may not be for: OK. it can get a little sticky here. If you are true Charlotte Mason and stick with her writings 100% you will probably not need this book. Truthfully, a nature notebook isn't that hard to make if you get a blank mixed media book. But my child needed more prompting and this is going to up his A game.Bottom Line: If I could only recommend one Thinking Tree book this would be it. You also need to join the Facebook community to get a better idea of how to Fun School.

We have 2 of these and just love them! We enjoy going outside, picnic style, and enjoying nature. This journal has been a great place to record what we see in nature. It has just enough structure to it to keep us on track, but allows my kids to be creative. We use field guides, coloring pencils and such alongside it for a nature study approach to science.

This book has one of the best stories of all the books!When Sarah was in the middle of designing this book she and her family lived in Ukraine working as volunteers with the local church, Living Water (a Calvary Chapel). She had always wanted to work with orphans but is was very hard for "protestants" to serve in the state orphanages because they were training the kids to be Orthodox Christians. One day Sarah got a message from a friend in the United States.Sarah's Story:Lisa and her family had been hoping to adopt a teen boy named Vanya, but the adoption failed and he was about to age out of the orphanage. The orphanage was very close to my home, so my friend asked me to mentor this boy in art. I met with the director of the orphanage and she allowed me to hire the boy to do drawing for this book, so he could save up money to support himself when he graduated.I began going to the orphanage every week with my other intern and translation, Anna Kidolova. We would teach him how to do the illustrations and encourage him about his future. His confidence blossomed and the director of the orphanage was amazed at how he came out of a long stretch of depression. He was smiling again, and had purpose. The director allowed us to take him shopping and even bring him with us to church on weekends, because she wanted him to have a supportive community in our city when he graduated.After a while the director called me into the office and asked if I would teach art to more of the students, over time I began teaching classes 2 or 3 times per week to all 65 children in the orphanage including special needs kids.After several months we were able to bring a team of volunteers from our church to help with the art and music classes. We also taught an english camp in the summer.During our work at the orphanage my husband and I met a precious sibling group of five children who needed a family and had bonded with ours. A year later, they became our son and daughters! And it all started with this book!Now you know the story! Enjoy the book!

While we own a number of Thinking Tree journals and books for homeschooling, this is the first one that I picked up just for me. I absolutely love it and starting working in it the day I received it. There is plenty of room for observations in addition to photos and drawings. I thought the poetry excerpts in the book were a nice touch as well. I would recommend this for homeschoolers and for folks interested in delving into nature journaling.

I bought this go along with our Nature studies this spring. It has plenty of space for your child to observe and record their findings outdoors. There are nature scavenger hunts. There are pages that ask for pictures you took to be added. It would be an asset to any parent that follows a nature style philosophy in homeschool.

So beautiful! Ideal for any child who love nature or for parents who would like their child to become more attached to nature. The pages and prompts are wonderful. My favorite of all the fun schooling journals and hope to see more like this, this one is more structured than the others in a completely non-structured way. 10/10!

A great journal for nature study! It has enough guidance to provide some structure (such as draw the habitat for a hawk or a map of your yard) but enough freedom to let kids explore what they are interested in (take 10 pictures of nature, draw your favorite flower, research your favorite animal). It's a hefty book that will easily carry you through the school year and possibly beyond. It's a great book for kids with learning disabilities or those who are reluctant writers, as the writing sections are half a page or less. There is plenty of room for drawing and pasting in photographs, and since the illustrations are line drawings, plenty of opportunities to color as well.

Looking for an enjoyable way to add nature studies to you or your child's life? Well look no further this journal is wonderful and I bought it for myself and now all my kids are envious and are wanting one for themselves. My 4 year old son (almost 5) is a HUGE vehicle fanatic; especially of race cars. His favorite movies are Cars and Cars 2. He has a HUGE hot wheels vehicle collection, and one of his favorite pastimes is racing his cars around an imaginary racetrack. When he saw this Hot Wheels book in his sister's Scholastic's book order pamphlet, he just had to have it. We've had this book for almost a month now, and already we've read it to him no less than a couple dozen times! He absolutely LOVES this book!The story is about an race that takes place at the top secret Hot Wheels Test Facility. The drivers must complete the Double Loop racetrack, which is no easy feat. In order to be successful, each driver must race through a "hair-raising loop and jump over [a] canyon." The race is described in exciting step by step detail, and some beautiful illustrations are included. The story is very entertaining, and is written using simple easy to read words. This Scholastic Reader Level 1 is geared towards beginning readers. It is a great story for racing car lovers, and a wonderful reading tool for early readers.

In a world with very few hot wheels books I am glad I found one here!

The great-grandsons loved it. They are six year old twins and anything Hot Wheels is their favorite thing in the whole world.

Great condition and so much fun to read.

Gift for my grandson - he loved being able to read the book himself.
