This amazing book has totally changed my view of Katey Sagal. I've always loved her but I took her as someone who had everything handed to her. She was born and raised into the Industry, but this book changed that. It shows that just because someone has something doesn't mean they're happy. It doesn't mean they didn't work hard for it. Within the first chapter I was crying. And I'm not even joking. Actual tears.

I want to start off saying I'm a huge fan of Katey Sagal, I always have been. When reading this book I absolutely became an even bigger fan! The thins this woman went through in her life, some things I can relate to as a mother! Such a raw, real-emotional bio! I don't know necessarily if I would consider this "letters" to her kids! But it's definitely one of I couldn't put don't, and I'm NOT a fan of bios-sometimes they get too off the tracks in them and then they leave you kind of thinking "Huh?!"I would totally recommend this! Great Vacation read on the beach!!

Katey, I just finished your book "Grace Notes" and I loved it! I related to you on so many levels it felt good to know there's someone else out there a little bit like me. You're brave and I appreciate your openness, honesty and wit. Your book was a page turner and I love how you get to the point but share enough of yourself to show your vulnerability, strength, and beautiful love. Thank you!!

Katey Sagal tells it like it is. I like the fact that she's not full of herself. If anything, she may have been too hard on herself. She's wife, mother, actress and musician and is exceptionally talented but her books describes her misfortunes as she was growing up and up till now. Very successful woman. I liked her honesty and she is not different from any one of us with all our insecurities. I can relate to her in some ways. I highly recommend her book.

Loved this book! I received it Saturday and was done reading it Saturday. I have always been a big fan of Katey Sagal and was completely fascinated with her "journal". A big thank you to her for sharing what was originally intended to be a gift to her children.

Katey Sagal opens up in this revealing and honest memoir. I had first seen Katey on the ill-fated Mary Tyler Moore sitcom, "Mary," as Jo Tucker. She was fantastic. I was never a fan of "Married: With Children" though I could see Katey's talent. This is a baring of her heart and her soul. I feel like I have gotten to know her a bit. I had found the book hard to put down. Katey is a great talent.

I'm really not a Katey Sagal fan, but this was recommended on a literary review website - and I am open to other points of view. A good book is a good book. I enjoyed the portion of the book detailing Katey's early life, her parents, her origins....However as she goes through life, her story, or maybe the telling of it became boring.... There were a few juicy tidbits in the book, some name dropping, but not too much. Kind of boring bio.

Not a terrible book but If you’re expecting her to go into the details of her drug addiction and recovery, she doesn’t. She kind of speeds past it and it becomes more of a book about her being a musician and actress and the rest Is downplayed.

So far I've made 2 meals from the book and both turned out way better than anything I could have made before the book.Both recipes called for steps I would not have done on my own that took the flavors to another level. The salmon called for a paste for grilling. The pork chop called for a vinegar, mustard and syrup glaze that was unreal.Both were fairly easy to make. They took about 30 min each. Felt like I learned about flavors from making both. Can't wait to try more!

I love this cookbook and the recipes I have tried have all been outstanding. I made the pumpkin tart during the holidays and my husband said it was the best pumpkin pie he has ever had so I have made many times since. Marcus has a knack of combining flavors and spice so the dish is unexpected in flavor and also easy to understand and execute.

I love this book! I went to a friend's for dinner one night, had the best chicken dish in a long time, and she showed me the book. I read through it, loved the easy, yet sophisticated recipes, loved the story (did you know he did an inauguration dinner at the White House?), bought the book the next day, and I am going to order more to offer to my friends. I work as a Personal Chef and Cooking Instructor, and pride myself in making dishes that people can easily reproduce. I love sophisticated, but I hate complicated. This book is perfect, and this man's story is incredible - this is the American Dream come alive.

This has become my go-to resource when I want to escape the monotony of every day cooking. At first I thought some of the recipes were a bit fanciful, but they're actually quite simple and he combines ingredients in unexpected ways. The fish tacos is a family favorite, as is his grandmother's roast chicken. Typically, I only end up trying 35-40 % of cookbook recipes. I intend to try all of these. Along with Jamie Oliver and Michael Chiarello this has become my favorite cookbook.

I intended to purchase this cooking book in paper back form but I hit the kindle format by accident. I decided to review the kindle format to see what the book was about. I was totally impressed with the way it was written and illustrated. Not only do you get recipes you get the history, background and extra information about the ingredients extra tips on where to purchase ingredients and cooking tips. I couldn't put this book down until I finished reading this book. I can't wait to make the recipes in this book.

I have always been a fan of Marcus and was thrilled to get his cookbook. I read his biography book and he has led a very interesting and amazing life. Great pictures and recipes.

Marcus Samuelsson has an unbelievable way of combining flavors together that makes everything come together for a taste sensation I have never experienced before. I have eaten at his Harlem restaurant and the food is out of this world. Thanks to this fabulous cookbook I can do the same.

Love his book. Gives the best recipes but also gives insight to the chef behind them.... what has him search the side streets to discover local markets, new foods, and bring it home to create something close to new. He's a food adventurer. A man after my own heart... as even as a child, I too would do the same, climbing neighbors' fences to gather their fruit, bring home cassava roots from the local school as they were about to burn them to make room for a new school building, wanting to know how tinagaktak, a wonderful crispy coconut-rice cookie (of sorts).. and discovering the name came from the noise made as the ladle, filled with holes, was tapped to allow the batter to seep through into the hot oil. Getting the rest of his books!

I'm sure that most people who read my blog and know me a little bit that I'm a big history fan, especially ancient history. Let me just tell you Game of Thrones is nothing compared to the ancient Romans, believe me. So when I saw Hourly History published a book about emperor Claudius I had to read it immediately, of course. And I really ended up liking it a lot.Going into the book I already knew quite a bit about Claudius because he's part of the Julio-Claudian dynasty and as it's the very first Roman imperial dynasty I've always thought they were really fascinating (+ I'm clearly obsessed lol). But even so I learned quite a few new facts about Claudius and ancient Rome in general, which is great because there's always more to learn about anything historical. Below you'll find some of those facts.Claudius certainly was a different and reasonably good emperor (aside from the fact that he actually killed an orca whale for his own damn enjoyment and initiating the conquest of Britain) compared ot his predecessor so it was a nice change of pace to read about an emperor in ancient Rome not acting like a total nutcase. And his reign of 13 years was pretty long one compared to most emperors as well, which is really rare actually.Overall, Claudius: A Life From Beginning to End by Hourly History was a brief but compelling nonfiction about the life of one of the longest reigning emperors of his time. I wanted it to be longer as usual but for a short story it was informative and obviously didn't take long to read. Very enjoyable!5 interesting facts I learned:•Claudius ascended the throne only when he turned out to be the last surviving man of the Julio-Claudian dynasty.•Claudius' predecessor was the infamous Caligula.•Claudius was married four times and was eventually poisoned by his last wife, Agrippina.•Claudius' mother Antonia Minor gave birth to him in Lugdunum in Gaul (modern-day France) making him the first Roman emperor to ever have been born outside of Italy.•Claudius wrote 20 books on Etruscan history.

Though 5stars are usually keepers on my kindle, the Hourly History series meet a different criteria. As always, this book is well written and fills in info I forgot or didn't learn in my Latin days. These books do a great job in introducing new topics or reminding one of forgotten facts. I may not always agree with what's written but I always gain from reading these books and Emperor Claudius is no exception.

A succinct account of a complex life - although much (of necessity?) seems to be conjecture.There's a smattering of awkward phrases like: 'He was felt remorse...' and 'Agrippina had to do act quickly...', etc... so: needed tighter editing.It certainly seemed like a dangerous occupation to be in political life in Roman times...?Still - he seemed to achieve a lot during his reign.

I liked this. It was interesting and informative and well written. I didn't notice any typos or spelling/grammatical/punctuation errors. Well done.

I would have liked more details, Graves book I Claudius was very entertaining. It would have been nice to have a better understanding of his rule.
