I love all things coloring and all things journaling. I couldn’t wait to receive the NIV Wonders of Creation Bible. I have an adult coloring book that is called Wonders of Creation and this looked similar. I was correct. It is basically some of the same illustrations.I have several journaling bibles and coloring bibles. I love them all and the Wonders of Creation Bible is no different. I love it too. I will say this is not a journaling bible there isn’t anywhere to journal at all so just know it is only a coloring bible. One thing that specifically stuck out to me is the pages that are coloring pages are much thicker than you expect in a bible. I really like this about this bible, the pages are almost as thick as card stock. Some of my coloring bibles the pages are so thin you can see through them. I wish more publishers would make the coloring pages thicker.The images are quite whimsical not realistic looking animals and but very fun. The spaces are larger and not so intricate that it would make it difficult to color. I haven’t tried yet but I’m thinking a water based marker would probably work without bleeding but test to make sure. There is a bible verse included with each picture so that you can ponder the Word as you color and relax. There are over 50 pages to color.I would think this would make an excellent bible for a teen or pre-teen girl. The lettering of the bible is quite small I have a hard time reading it without readers. The bible isn’t a study bible of sorts, there are no notes or study verses as you go. There are no reference pages or concordance included. If those things are important to you then you may want to stay clear of this bible. Otherwise I found this bible enjoyable.I received this bible at no charge from booklookbloggers in exchange for an honest review..

At 65, I have been a student and teacher of the Bible for almost 50 years. I wish I had had this for all those years! The issue and complaints of lighter print on the page notes almost kept me from buying it. But much to my surprise, with my older eyes, I can read it just fine. Do not let that keep you from buying this gem. One aspect the author brings out is the comparison between man's mythical beliefs of the day and God's work. Lately there have been many books bringing out Hebrew culture in Jesus' day and giving further understanding to the New Testament. It is said best on the back cover "see the cultural background behind each story". This version does the same for the Old Testament as well as New. I have recommended this to all my friends

I've been so excited to get this bible which is pretty cool because it's been a while since I've been excited about reading the bible. Lots of reviews had me wary about hard-to-read text so I almost didn't buy this, but it just arrived and either the other reviews have poor eyesight or they changed the print due to the complaints. I flipped thru and took a few photos and don't see an issue. Text looks legible to me!

I am an older reader and the print is just too light to be comfortably read. Content may be excellent, but why or why did you ruin it with the light print? I had planned on purchasing several copies, but after looking at the ink, there will be no extra purchases. I have told my friends about the light print and they all agree that they will avoid the purchase. Sorry, but it ruined the whole thing for me...and my friends.

I own both John Walton’s and Craig Keener's Bible Background Commentaries and found them both very helpful. A study bible with this kind of info tickled my fancy.I have grown to become particular on the print Bibles I purchase. As a graphic and web designer, I know how much print quality effects the ease of reading. So I did my research and found a sampler PDF by Zondervan of the print Bible. Everything seemed good (notes were dark enough because of being viewed on a monitor) but you never know how the final product will look. Factors like paper quality, ink quality etc. really determine the final outcome.On receiving the bible I have to admit I am very disappointed. Many things were okay but when I looked at the note sections of the bible I was not a happy camper. Zondervan used a thin-weight sans-serif font, very small (5 or 6pt ?) that is very difficult to read. Because of the thin weight of the font, the print color looks like a medium gray. In bright light the glare off the paper competes with it but without some sort of direct light it is very difficult to read. Also, the paper is thin enough that the occasional colored illustrations on the reverse side of the page bleed (ghost) through and make legibility even more difficult.The content of the notes and articles are top notch. No complaints there. But if you can’t read the notes without squinting, what’s the point? My hope is this study bible can be redone at some point to increase the legibility.Other things of note, I also wish the size of the NIV text was a tad larger. Bumping it up to 9.5 or 10pt font size would be ideal. Yes, I know that would increase the size of the book but as is, this study bible is on the large and heavy size already. You’ll probably not be toting this around to church or the office.I could do without the red lettering myself. I know many people like it so I’ll back off on that. Red lettering is often hard to read in large doses (try John 14-17) and sometimes turns to a dark pink.So what to do? For the note section, having the Kindle version may be better. Amazon often does a thing called MatchBook where if you buy the print version of a book you can get the Kindle version greatly reduced. No such luck here so many buyers will need to choose between the Kindle version or the hard-to-read print bible.I looked at the sample Kindle version and can say I am not impressed. Kindle bibles have notoriously ugly text. The main culprit is the superscript verse numbers which are often not formatted correctly and thus increase the line spacing (leading) of the lines they are on. The text then becomes choppy and irregular with the mishmash of different line spacing. You’ll get that here.The notes, however, are in different sections and layout perfectly fine. So you will be able to bump the text size to whatever is readable for you. Plop that besides you while reading your bible and you’ll be good to go.In conclusion, I wish Bible publishers hired better print and layout designers for their bibles. This trend of small font sizes, thin bible paper and compact bible sizes doesn’t make for very readable bibles these days.Update: sent back the print version study bible before my allotment time is up. On pages where there are predominantly notes, not the biblical text, I just plain can't read the mass of medium gray text without a magnifying glass. I have what I have suggested below (the comment section) and is working great.

Five stars no question if you like a great historically deep & accurate stamp story. The adult book for fans of Billy Bunter and the Blue Mauritius without question will want to won this one. A book that is read more than once.

Interesting book for a stamp collector.

This book is not just about stamps. It tells a lot about the history and culture of the island of Mauritius, far far away. The book talks about the beginning French presence and then the British culture in Mauritius. It also has a lot of information about mail delivery in Mauritius and also in France and India where copies of the stamps were found after they had been used. There have been very, very few of these stamps found and the history of each known copy is given. These stamps have been owned and enjoyed by the most famous and ecentric stamp collectors in the last 150 years.

If you like stamps, you'll love this. Even if you don't collect, there's much fascinating history buried in this book. Morgan writes well. Who would have thought so many details could be wrung out of the design of a couple of stamps? Bravo!

Excellent research information about a classic stamp with great value. The book has a lot of reference material and details the history of these old stamps.

Haven't read it yet. Will be interesting to read through.

Motivated by the love she'd felt for trees since her childhood, Sessions researched species that would grow in arid weather and hilly terrain, and she asked gardeners around the world to send her seeds. She had left teaching to establish a nursery, and by the turn of the century, trees from that nursery were growing not only in City Park but all over San Diego. The park would be the site of the Panama-California Exposition in 1909, and Sessions wanted thousands of additional trees in place to make it even more spectacular. Multitudes volunteered, and the result was so lovely that the fair stayed open for two years instead of one. Hopkins writes in a light narrative style that makes this picture-book biography a great selection for a storytime with a nature-based theme, but it also contains good information for early report writers. The author utilizes variations of a positive, upbeat refrain-"but she did"-that kids will enjoy repeating. McElmurry's artwork undergirds Hopkins's writing with stylized beauty and a sense of joy. Well, turns out Katherine Olivia Sessions, who grew up in Northern California in the 1860s, always loved trees—she used to weave their leaves into necklaces and bracelets. Girls back then weren’t supposed to get their hands dirty, but Kate did. Girls were also discouraged from studying science, but Kate sure did, graduating from the University of California with a degree in science in 1881. Postgraduation, Kate moved to San Diego, a desert town with little greenery. She wrote to gardeners far and wide, seeking out seeds that would thrive in a harsh desert climate, and by the turn of the century, oaks, eucalypti, and palms sprung up throughout the city. But Kate’s biggest planting project would come in 1915 with the Panama-California Exposition, to be held in Balboa Park. Nobody thought that it would be possible to create a lush garden for the event . . . but guess who did? A little-known, can-do woman shines in this handsome picture book from Hopkins and McElmurry. Hopkins ably brings a woman’s passion—and some science—to a story that’s accessible for young children. And, oh the pictures! I love this book. But I cannot possibly be perceived as unbiased, since it was written by my father.I love how it is a book about possibilities and about following your dreams even if those dreams are different than society's expectations of you. I love the illustrations, with historical details set just right.The book took several years to come to fruition. It started as a student exercise in a writing seminar. And now, it's a fun and encouraging book about a woman who made her world a better place.My dad encouraged me to enjoy reading (thanks, dad!) and I encourage you to enjoy reading this book.But when I read it, I get a special experience. I hear my daddy reading it to me, in his special book voice. I wish I could share that with you all, because it makes me feel so good, so warm and secure, enchanted with the story as it unfolds. If your family gets some portion of that wonder, then, I think, my dad's hopes will have been fulfilled.I love you, Dad!

Loved this book! The illustrations were delightful! The text is crisp and held the attention of my children ages 3 to 8. My oldest two children then went on to read it a few more times by themselves. We used this as a text for a unit on...yes, trees. There is SO much to pull from the book: science, history, geography, gardening, use of public spaces, as well as themes of determination and vision, goal setting, etc. After reading it, I pulled up photos of the garden in San Diego, as well as some before and after photos of the garden. We all found this part, the actual transformation displayed in historical photos, fascinating. This is a sweetly researched, planned, written and designed book. Kudos to the author and illustrator! Definitely a book to have in one's library.

Full-disclosure: I bought this book mostly because *I* love children's picture books...and the main charcter, Kate Sessions happens to share her name with *my* daughter who is also a tree-loving little girl, although my hubby so kindly pointed out, she may be outgrowing picture books.I disagree. Anyone and everyone can love picture books; they are truly a wonderful foray into the world of literature.And so my love for children's literature never dies. My students absolutely loved this book. As 4th graders, they still like picture books but are also really getting more into books with substance. While this book is relatively short, it tells a true story in a beautiful story-like way that teaches them how each person can make a difference. The illustrations are beautiful, and in the end, several students were inspired to research more about the "Tree Lady". You won't be disappointed in this purchase. :)

This was written for a child, but I knew this lady who lived in Pacific Beach, California where I grew up, many years ago. I wanted to read it and now will pass it on to a grand daughter, for whom I'm sure it will be a positive influence that girls can make dreams come true if they want to do so, and are willing to put forth the effort. This lady brought much beauty to the San Diego area by planting many, many trees. She is considered to be the reason that Balboa Park is so beautiful My Dad, a school principal, took me with him once when he consulted her about trees they wanted to plant around the school. Very good read for girls, probably from fourth grade on up.

Oh my goodness. This is the perfect story for my 5 year old grandniece. She is in love with the outdoors, notices everything in her environment, especially the trees & flowers. We take 'hikes' regularly along a nearby river and forest encountering all the inhabitants including deer. She even helps tend to their yard and hugs their trees. She delights at how one woman (or a girl) can improve her surroundings or town, that this woman saw a need and took action to improve the community. An especially good book to read after the one we read about Jane Goodall's life. This little girl is a person of action. We so enjoy this book.

As a native San Diego I'm already familiar with this story. The book is very basic and more for children who can read. I liked the book and the illustrations. I gave it to a young niece who can't read yet but will enjoy the illustrations and - hopefully - will read it eventually. i recommend this ass book for a reading level child, or an adult who just wants a very simple history.Seems very accurate based on my prior research.

This picture book--lovely in both word and painting--has become a favorite of mine. I've read it several times now and plan to give it as a Christmas gift to two of my great-great-nieces who are 7 and 11. The story of Kate Sessions is inspiring and I'm hoping that the words Mr. Hopkins uses and the paintings will inspire a deeper love of nature in both of these nieces. The three repeating words that appear on several pages give a cadence and a sense of suspense to the book that carries readers--be they adults or children--to the end to discover the wonder of Kate. Peace.

I have read all 19 Joe Pickett novels and have recommended the series to a lot of people, but this is the last. The body count has just grown way too high and too gratuitous in such a violent world as ours has become. While I embrace poetic license, this is just more than I can tolerate.

“Wolf Pack” is C. J. Box at his absolute best. I thought the long-running series was in decline after “Vicious Circle” and “The Disappeared.” But this latest book represents a full turnaround. Most readers will finish this compelling novel in one or two sittings.Its plot is intricate, relentless, and up-date; the good guys are nuanced; and the villains come in various forms—some plain evil, others merely contemptible. No surprise then that there’s lots of violence in the story. But killing—whether of animals or people—always has consequences in Joe Pickett’s world.

C. J. Box never disappoints with his series. I have read all 19 books in the Joe Pickett series and always preorder the next one as soon as it becomes available, I hope there are many more to come. When you start reading this novel you can’t put it down, I just received it today and read the entire book. I would highly recommend this book to all, but especially to those who hunt and enjoy the great outdoors. Can’t wait for the next one to see how he tops this one. C.J. Box is one of my favorite authors.

My review of “Wolf Pack” came a little more slowly, and with more deliberation than I normally give. This is because I got the Audible edition at the same time I bought the Kindle edition.STAND-ALONE: It can be read as a stand-alone, but the greatest appreciation will come for devotees of the series.CLIFFHANGER. No. Although there surely will be more Pickett novels, this does not end with a cliffhanger.If I were to rate this only based on the Audible narration, I’d be hard-pressed to rate it four stars, as the writing comes across as just a bit too much of an info dump. However, when I read the Kindle version, the info dump is much more invisible, so I am rating it more highly.WRITING & EDITING: Professional. The flow is good, and the historical bits are interesting. Sometimes the inter-agency tension seems too drawn out, but, as someone who has witnessed just how antagonistic the various factions within the federal and state agencies can be, it had the feeling of authenticity.BLUSH FACTOR: The number of eff words is more than you’ll want to read with your prayer group, probably, but it is not excessive for most folks. Certainly not for me. I mention it only for those for whom it might annoy.No graphic sex, but some of the violence might disturb a few readers. I appreciated the realistic portrayal, though.BOTTOM LINEI enjoyed this murder mystery and consider it a fine Action-Adventure.

Much of the storyline was illogical, with inaccurate statistics that were used to justify FBI activities. The body count, and the level of mayhem made this book extremely distasteful.

I've read almost everything written by him, including all of this lengthy series, and he never disappoints (and I'm working on catching up on the couple of books I've missed after I finish this review). Wyoming happens to be one of my favorite states too so that adds a lot of appeal.This is book #19 in the Joe Pickett series about Game Warden Joe Pickett of the Wyoming Fish and Game Department. Joe has his job back (after losing it temporarily in book #18) with the help of former Wyoming Governor Rulon acting as his attorney. And actually he gained some great benefits during the process.In this tale, Joe ends up working with a female game warden from the next District over trying to track down an illegal drone operator who is harming wildlife. They get help from his falconer best friend Nate Romanowski.Added into the mix are the FBI, the DOJ and some dangerous out-of-towners.If you've enjoyed Box's other books, you'll surely love this one. Box is a consistently fine author and I highly recommend this latest book.I'm off now to read SHOTS FIRED, a collection of ten short stories based in Joe Pickett's world, that I somehow missed before this.

Dang now have to wait patiently until August when J C Box's next book arrives. Just saying. Enjoyed this book though I have a tendency to see ahead sometimes too far. My bad I've been dong this since my middle school years wehn I discovered Mysteries and read everyone pretty much worth reading in Townsends Broadwater county MT library in the 60's. Much more picky these days. Box and Craig Johnson are two of my favorites along with a number of others. Husband also enjoys. We buy hard copies if at all posible we have an e-reader which is nicer for travel than paperbacks but nothing beats a good solid hardbound book. And oh yes....the review of the story. YOu don't want me to spoil it do you? Yes body count is up like one unhappy person. If they are feeling jaded with todays world of ugly and evil things happening to good people then of course the question comes to mind WHY on earth are they reading MURDER mysteries at all? I think Box has become a lot more skilled over the years writing. And I also think this book is one of his best. Sorry to say so long to a past character or two as they fell into the fatal category. Again can't say who because YOU would be sad and yes I had tobite my tongue not to share anything with my husband. He often reads my saved up books before I do. This was spring fever or winter blues knee jerk had to read it the moment it arrived. Now I wish I'd saved it. Life is good...probably you'll enjoy if you are a Joe Picket fan this being his 19th installment.

About the Author

Peter started playing guitar in 2nd grade and very quickly realized his calling. He played in several bands through his years at Okemos High, and proceeded to study classical guitar in college at the University of Ga. under the tutelage of John Sutherland. After receiving his undergraduate degree in Classical Guitar Performance Peter continued with his studies on a assistantship at James Madison University. While there he taught classes as large as 110 people at both James Madison and Mary Baldwin College. Peter moved back to Georgia and began playing the club circuit in Atlanta as a soloist and with a multitude of bands. He also founded and managed several schools of guitar including the Guitar Learning Center. During this time Peter produced many products for Cassette and Video such as The Guitarist s Chord Book, The Guitarist s Scale Book, The Guitarist s Intro to Blues, The Guitarist s Intro to Rock, The Guitarist s Tablature Book, and the Let s Jam Series. In the 90 s Peter met Jan Smith and began to play with the Jan Smith Band performing on several of her CDs including nonstop Thrill, Surrender, and Resurrection. In 2001 Peter moved into Jan Smith Studios where he continues to teach and do session work with local and national talent. Peter has performed on stage with talents such as Michael Bolton, Cee-Lo, Kelly Price, Steve Vai, Earl Klugh, Sharon Isbon, and Sleepy Brown. In collaboration with the NARAS organization he is the band leader each year at the Heroes Award Dinner in Atlanta. Peter s disc, So Many Notes, So Little Time, a guitar instrumental record, is slated to be released the summer of 2005. Peter is also working on a new acoustic record featuring his nylon string playing. Stay tuned as Peter plans on continuing his recording, teaching, and publishing careers into the foreseeable future

There really isn't much that can be added to the product description. It's not just blank tablature pages. In the back are handy scale and chord references. It's a Peter Vogl book which gives it credibility. I've got 10 of his other books which are fantastic! I highly recommend anything by Peter Vogl.

I have been using this book for years. It has everything I need to work with my private guitar students.95% of what I use is the tab - about the first half of the book. There is a great 2-page chord reference towards the back of the book. The book also has 2 pages of blank chord diagrams and 2 more pages of blank guitar necks (1-octave) - all useful stuff. I ignore the scales presented - I prefer my own book.My students like having one place where every tab we've done is located.Great book.

This has been a good guitar tab book. It opens and stays open. The blank tabs make it easy for my instructor to write in chords, notes etc. He highly recommends it and I agree.

This is one of the better tablature books. The print is big, compared to some where the lines are so close together you have to write small. Plus, it has a good listing of chords in the back

My music teacher recommended this to me. If you're serious about learning guitar you'll want this to record your exercises, lessons, and plans. No more scattered sheets of notebook paper.

I purchased this for my son who loves it. I don't play the guitar, but he was very pleased by the combination of line and graph combinations.

Helped a lot

The book was bought for learning purposes but it wasn't really very informative. For a student that can already read tabs I'm sure it's fine but for the family member learning it wasn't a lot of use.

Overall, I believe the book is good, but there are certain things that are not explained in detailed that should be. It could be confusing to some people that are complete beginners to web development. One instance would be, that some of the CSS is using SASS notation and won't work properly.The code examples are great and are easy to follow. If you take the time to understand the underlying code, it is a great foundation to build off of.I would recommend this book to people learning React.

Being new to React I really needed something that was beyond the ole "Hello World" or "To Do" app tutorials and this book is great for that! Easy to follow with real world examples, I enjoyed that and the author's casual style; excellent code samples and a good approach for solving real problems. Recommended!
