This edition is a significant downgrade from previous ADC Greater Washington. The counties are no longer color coded, the new 4 digit page numbers are a terrible idea; I find it much harder to navigate around between pages. Also, the shopping centers are now the same color as the schools?!? And they got rid of the nice large light orange metro station rectangles and replaced with a TINY green circle S that blends in with the other circle letter landmarks. Some secondary roads are yellow now and some are red, what for? Again just harder to find things at quick glance.Boo.

What a beautiful book for anyone who believes in God but is having a difficult time dealing with tragedy and loss! Not too deep (when you're hurting you don't want something too deeply theological), but profound. I have bought copies for family and friends, have loaned my copy several times, and now am purchasing a few more to share. Some quotes are just phenominal ("We beat on His chest from within the circle of His arms...."); I've read them over again and again. This lady writes from her own experience, too, which makes this very credible.

Fifteen years ago my husband went to work and never came home. A General Contractor, he parked his truck, locked the doors, took 3 steps, suffered a heart attack, fell down, and died. He was and will always be the love of my life. That afternoon the wife of my husband's surgeon came to my home to express condolences and comfort me. She left me with the book, WHEN LIFE TAKES WHAT MATTERS by Susan Lenzkes. For the next 3 months, I began each day reading, re-reading, underlining, yellow highlighting, and turning down corners of every page of this precious little book. Since that time when I want to express condolences to those who have suffered a loss, I share Ms. Lenzke's comforting book. I was 58 when my husband died. I credit my children, my doctor, my counselor, and WHEN LIFE TAKES WHAT MATTERS for keeping my heart beating.

This is an excellent and comforting book. I originally purchased it when my mother passed away. I found it extremely helpful in dealing with the issues and feelings I was going through. I give this book to everyone I know who has suffered the loss of a family member, job, illness - whatever difficulty life is throwing at you or someone you know, this book help you find assurance that God cares for and loves you.

Excellent book! It hits the nail on the head, so to speak. It very accurately expresses what you go through when your spouse leaves this earth. I have bought several to give to my friends who have lost their loved one.

I keep copies of this book to give to our friends who might be in need of some help in this area. Have given out several in person and by mail.

Some people might like it. Didn't do anything for me.
