About the Author

Born in New Zealand, Thomas Daniell is a practicing architect who has been living and working in Kyoto since the early 1990s. Widely published, he is a contributing editor for the architecture journals Mark and Archis.Born in Tokyo, Akihiko Seki spent over 20 years working outside of Japan. Since taking early retirement, he has traveled with his wife and cameras throughout Japan and Asia. He is the photographer and author of Asian Resorts and also photographed and co-authored Ryokan: Japan's Finest Spas and Inns.New Foreword by Matthew Stavros an historian of early Japan at the University of Sydney and the author of Kyoto: An Urban History of Japan's Premodern Capital (UHawai'I, 2014). This book is beautiful, a good way to plan a visit to temples and gardens in Kyoto or to indulge in nostalgia if one has already been there. Some of the pictures are small . . . but they are clear. The text seems insightful.

About the Author

Alla Lapushchik is coauthor of Cuban Cocktails: 100 Classic and Modern Drinks (Sterling Epicure). She assisted with the opening of the Bourgeois Pig while studying at New York University before moving to Mayahuel, Death & Co., Desnuda Cevicheria, and 124 Rabbit Club. After opening Post Office Whiskey Bar in South Williamsburg, she opened OTB, which focuses on craft spirits and comfort food. Time Out New York included her among “Brooklyn’s New Order,” and she has been featured in Brooklyn Spirits by Peter Thomas Fontanale and Chris Wertz, Imbibe magazine, The New York Times, and Village Voice. She lives in Brooklyn.   Jane Danger is coauthor of Cuban Cocktails: 100 Classic and Modern Drinks (Sterling Epicure) and began her bartending career at CBGB before moving to Death & Co. and then PDT. She also worked at Little Branch and Dutch Kills before opening Cienfuegos and moving to Nomad Bar. Bought this for my boyfriend who has been super into the old fashioned lately and he loved it. While the shipping was a wide date range (2/11 - 2/27), it came on 2/5, so it was 6 days early than expected! Quality book and a lot of look at.

Great for people new to bartending. Dont bother if you're seasoned.

Husband loved it for a father's day gift combined with etched glass for drinking bourbon.

This book is so pretty and great quality- perfect for a bar top or whiskey display- my husband loves it!
