Review
"The beautiful photos make the book almost feel like a photo album, but it doesn't stop there as the informative text turns the book into a fascinating historical study of Kyoto." —Japan Australia blog"The book will plunge you into a complex world of well-organized traditional architecture and serene natural settings. You will learn the subtleties and secrets behind some of Kyoto's most remarkable houses and gardens. You will visit temples and ryokans and enjoy the changing seasons of their environment. The book is a great reference for Kyoto lovers as well as an enticing introduction for first-time visitors. I enjoyed learning so much and admiring the quiet beauty of the pictures!" —LittleAesthete.com blog"Although Thomas Daniell provides extensive information about the domiciles and temples profiled, the highlights of this newly revised edition are decidedly visual. Akihiko Seki's beautiful color photographs (more than 500 in all) will surely take you back to places in Kyoto you (probably) visited." — JQ Magazine

This book is beautiful, a good way to plan a visit to temples and gardens in Kyoto or to indulge in nostalgia if one has already been there. Some of the pictures are small . . . but they are clear. The text seems insightful.
Buy this book!! This book contains more information than five independent books covering the same topic materials discussed within. I know....I have purchased them.
Great item and fast delivery!
This is a very beautiful book, but then look at the source city they are photographing and writing about, you cant ask for a more beautiful place to choose. I have been to this city and the book lives up to my memory of kyoto. If you cant afford to go, buy this book and dream . Signed Daunn Munn

the photos are great and the narrative wonderful. The history of Kyoto's houses & gardens was a nice addition. The delivery time for this book was depressingly slow. I would not use the same supplier again.Lauren
